Increasing your fiber intake will help you feel full longer which is a huge benefit when you are planning to lose weight or is currently trying to lose weight. There was a study conducted at Brigham Young University College of Health and Human Performance wherein they showed a woman who ate more fiber to have significantly lowered their risk of gaining weight. The ratio they said was 1 gram of fiber eaten is to half a pound less of body weight. The researchers who conducted the study also suspected that the higher the fiber intake led to a reduction in total calories over time.
